International Womans Day - Friday, March 8, 2013

Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more.

Many global corporations have also started to more actively support IWD by running their own internal events and through supporting external ones. Year on year IWD is certainly increasing in status. The United States even designates the whole month of March as 'Women's History Month'.

So make a difference, think globally and act locally !! Make everyday International Women's Day. Do your bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.

Rustingon we are heading your way - Friday, November 16, 2012

Well this weekend Mia Bella Casa is moving to Rustington.

Tuesday Mr BT turned up and installed the phone line and broadband. I must say BT has been excellent. Great service all the way through. The lady I spoke to pushed to make sure I could get a date for the installation before the shop opened and not in December as originally advised! I will be sending a letter to the management team and making sure they know what a great member of staff they have on their team.

On Thursday we had a piece in the local paper, the Littlehampton Gazette and the signage started to go up. While this was all going on Mia Bella Casa were at The Rare Brand Christmas Market at Goodwood Racecourse. The weather was glorious on Wednesday and you could see for miles over the South Downs. It was a great couple of days and if you get the chance to go to a Rare Brand Market then do. They are going to be in Brighton and Chichester in December.

Today Friday 16th saw the signage for the new shop finished. I have not seen it yet but I have seen a photo and it looks great. Just the big move to do this weekend which I am not looking forward to but I have some amazing friends who are going to help but I have never liked moving.

Next week is going to be full on. Will update on the opening next week, watch this space.......

It's all coming together - Saturday, November 10, 2012
Well the paperwork is complete, the signage is being made, the phone lines and broadband are being installed on Tuesday (all being well - do me proud BT), stock has been ordered and the bank account has been depleted somewhat. So one week today we will be starting to load the van to commence the move to Rustington.
We will be opening the doors on Tuesday 20th November and we are having an official opening on Saturday 24th November. If you are around then come and join us for a drink and a nibble from Thursday 22nd November - Saturday 24th November from 11am - 4pm. There will be a Tombola where you have a chance to win some amazing prizes - a meal at The Rustington Manor, a voucher for Vanilla White Hairdressers, a treatment from the Circle of Health to name a few. There will also be a children's drawing competition for them to create their own beautiful home. All proceeds from these activities will go to the Alzheimer's Society.
On Saturday 24th November Widow Twankey and other cast members of Aladdin will be making a guest appearance and Widow Twankey will be cutting the official opening ribbon.
And to top it off if you spend £30.00 or more in one transaction over those 3 days you will receive a 10% discount on any purchase in January.
We look forward to welcoming here at Mia Bella Casa, 2 Churchill Court, The Street, Rustington, West Sussex, BN16 3DA. Telephone 01903 786999

Fair Trade Fortnight - Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Well yesterday saw the start of Fairtrade Fortnight. I have been a supporter of Fairtrade for years and still can't believe that it is not just a standard way of doing business. How great would it be if we all were paid fairly for the work, services and products that we make and deliver? Buying Fairtrade really has an impact on improving people's lives through their work and in turn giving them the opportunity to maintain a decent and dignified livelihood whilst developing their full potential.

Mia Bella Casa has just taken a delivery of some wonderful Fairtrade Bags today. All the materials used are eco-friendly and sustainable. The palm raffia is hand processed and dyed before being sun dried and hand woven into mats ready to produce the bags. The bags are made by craftsmen in Madagascar and are very stylish - great for the summer. Look out for them to appear on the website soon.
